Andrew Berry said Tuesday that the Cleveland Browns expect Baker Mayfield to be their starting quarterback in the year 2022.

Berry said that it's easy to forget what we've seen with Baker over the past several years. We've been with Baker for a long time and we're looking forward to seeing him get healthy and make improvements."

The Browns finished with an 8-9 record and failed to make the playoffs, as the quarterback finished 27th in the league in QBR.

In Week 2, a torn labrum in his left, non-throwing shoulder forced him to wear a harness to keep his shoulder in place. He completed just 60.5% of his passes for 3,010 yards and 17 touchdown, with 13 picks.

Berry was quick to point out that last season, the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, Baker Mayfield, flourished in the system of coach Kevin Stefanski. The 2020 season was ranked 10th in the league in QBR.

Berry said that they were looking forward to Baker getting healthy in the off-season and then putting in good work in the spring to have a good season.

The hope is that he will be back in time to participate in team activities in late May, after he has had surgery to repair the labrum. The final year of his contract will pay him close to $19 million, after the Cleveland Browns exercised his fifth-year option. The No. 1 pick in the draft was taken by the Browns.

Berry said thatBaker is a competitor and is super tough. He wants to be the best quarterback for the team, and he needs to take steps to become that.
