U.S. Ranks 59th for Covid-19 Vaccinations, Just Behind Iran

Smaller countries and more wealthy nations dominated the international rankings during the early stages of vaccination efforts. The United States has a population that is just over half the size of many low-income countries.

China, which has the largest population in the world, has a vaccine rate of 87%, making it the fifth highest in the world. Cuba is one of the poorer countries in the world and has 85% of its population vaccine free. The vaccination rate of the low-income country of Fiji is well above wealthier countries like Switzerland and the United States.

Japan is a wealthy country that was lagging in 2021, but has really stepped up its vaccination efforts in recent months. Almost all of Japan is now protected against covid-19.
