Kevin Smith Wrote a Death of Superman Script for Ben Affleck

Projects that were in development but never happened is one of the most fascinating pop culture stories. The Justice League was founded by George Miller. The movie was directed by James Cameron. Tim Burton has a movie called Superman. The Man of Steel has a better origin story than the last one. At one point, it was Kevin Smith.

The director of Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy told a story in a new interview about how he found himself writing a Superman script after reading The Death of Superman.

Smith said that he was writing it for Ben. Ben was heating up. Like he was there. I think he was hired for Armageddon. He puts on the muscles as well. It was always Ben and Michael, which was a weird Mallrats reunion.

Smith wrote the script after he read the previous one. The people who wrote the script don't understand Superman. It is kind of winking. Smith said that audiences appreciate it being treated seriously.

He wrote a script but ran into problems with the producer who owned the rights. Smith had a very different take on the comic book fan's take on casting. Sean Penn is a recent Oscar-winner. He said to look in his eyes. Smith says that Peters is haunted by the eyes of a killer. I was like, it is Superman. Most people don't think of Superman that way. He wanted to change it. He wanted something that was grown up. He wanted the same thing as Zack Snyder did.
