Facebook delays return to office until March, Covid-19 boosters required

Employees will have to show proof of a booster shot before they can return to their offices.

Meta said on Monday that the back-to-office date is being pushed back to give employees more flexibility.

The social media giant's headquarters are located in Menlo Park, Calif., and they had planned to reopen their offices for vaccine employees on January 31.

Meta's vice president of human resources said in a statement that the company is focused on making sure employees have choices about where they work. We are giving them more time to decide what works best for them because we understand that this is a difficult time to make decisions about where to work.

The company said that if employees want to work remotely after March 28, they need to request a deferral from Meta by mid-March.

Meta is one of the first companies to tell its employees that proof of a booster shot will be required to work in the office, despite the fact that several of Meta's neighbors in Silicon Valley have pushed back their return-to-work plans.

Apple did not have a firm date for when it would be back in the office. The Jan 10 return date was pushed back in December until a stable, long-term working environment could be assured.
