Seattle Seahawks backup QB Geno Smith arrested on suspicion of DUI

King County court records show that Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

Smith was arrested by the Washington State Patrol and was released from a King County correctional facility on his personal recognizance at 9:27 a.m., records show. There was no other information immediately available.

Geno is cooperating with the investigation. Jon Fox, Smith's attorney, said in a statement that he hopes that an open mind can be kept.

The matter has not been commented on by the Seahawks.

The team returned to Seattle on Sunday evening after a 38-30 win over the Cards in Arizona.

Smith stepped in for Wilson during the three-plus games in October that Wilson missed with a broken finger. He completed 65 of 95 passes for 701 yards and five touchdown. Smith took over for an injured Wilson in the second half of the Week 5 game, and the Seattle's comeback bid ended.

He started for the Seahawks and they went 1-2.

Smith will be an unrestricted free agent after playing on a one-year contract.

He has a career record of 13-21 over nine seasons with five different teams.
