The family of Bob Saget was desperately trying to get in touch with him, but they didn't know he had died in his hotel room.
An Orange County Sheriff's deputy noted in his official report that Bob was discovered by a Ritz-Carlton Hotel security staffer who'd been sent to the room on the request of the Saget family.
It was.
The deputy wrote in the docs that this staffer knocked on Bob's door multiple times before going in around 4 PM, only to find all the lights off. Bob was lying on the bed with his left arm across his chest and right on the bed.
The staffer says he was cold to the touch, and when they looked for signs of breathing or a pulse, they didn't find anything.
Bob was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Ritz was able to tell Bob's last entry into the room. He was going to check out later that day. He showed himself onstage in Jacksonville, about an hour and a half away from his home in Florida.
There were no signs of trauma or foul play according to the deputy. Bob's wife, Kelly, was notified of his death.
The story was broken by TMZ. Bob's death shocked the entertainment world this weekend, spurring an onslaught of loving messages and tributes from his fans, friends and fellow comics.
