Apple Reportedly Looking to Broadcast Major League Baseball Games Next Season

According to The New York Post, Apple is in talks with Major League Baseball about broadcasting games next season.

The talks are substantial and serious, and a deal would give Apple a way to establish Apple TV+ as a destination for sports content. Apple TV+ is not able to appeal to sports fans because it is not as good as competitors.

Apple TV lacks live sports access, which is a serious negative as competitors like Amazon have established deals. Amazon paid more than $1 billion for the right to show "Thursday Night Football" games this fall.

Apple TV+ doesn't offer live TV access, so it's likely that Apple will need to build a new section with live TV access.

Apple TV+ integrates with the TV app to provide access to live sports through the Sports tab. If you choose a favorite team in the TV app, it will suggest a game to be played in the appropriate app whenever the team is playing.

If a deal is reached, Apple TV+ will likely show the Monday and Wednesday games that used to be exclusive to ESPN. No deal was reached with Barstool Sports and Amazon.
