Yorkshire set deadline by ECB over 2022 internationals

The summer of 2023 will see the first Test between Australia and England.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has given Yorkshire a deadline to regain their international status.

The right to host major matches was taken away from Headingley in November due to its handling of racism allegations.

Yorkshire has been told to meet certain conditions by the spring.

The one-dayer with South Africa and the Test against New Zealand were to be held at Headingley.

The major- match status of Yorkshire was suspended until it was clear that it could meet the standards expected.

The former chairman and chief executive have resigned, as well as 16 members of staff, including the director of cricket and the first-team coach.

The former Yorkshire and England pace bowler is the new director of cricket.

An investigation is ongoing by the ECB into allegations made by Rafiq and others.

The decision on this summer's major matches will be made before the investigation is finished in order to aid logistical and give clarity to ticket holders.

The third Test against New Zealand will be held in June.

If Lord's, Trent Bridge or Edgbaston don't host another match in the same week that Old Trafford is staging concerts, then The Oval and Saints are the only alternatives.

The one-off game against South Africa is on July 24. The Commonwealth Games women's T20 competition will be held at Edgbaston, which is not as capable of staging international white-ball matches.

The tickets for the matches at Headingley are not on the website.

Yorkshire have already seen a host of sponsors cut ties with the club because of the racism scandal, and a decision to remove the fixture from the venue would have serious financial implications.

After the final men's Ashes Test, the domestic season will be released either at the end of next week or in the following week.

The schedule was not published before Christmas because it was not related to Yorkshire, who will begin the season in County Championship Division One.

In December, Yorkshire invited applications for a number of positions.
