The live audio feature will be part of the new events platform and will be available later this month. In March of last year, Microsoft-owned LinkedIn said it was doing early tests to create a unique audio experience connected to your professional identity. According to the report, moderated panel-style discussions, roundtables, and fireside chats will eventually be included on the all-virtual events platform.

The virtual events will be built on the in-house tools of LinkedIn, and participants will be able to converse with each other during and after the live events. The video version is expected to be released later in the spring. According to the report, LinkedIn doesn't plan to include ticketed events, where organizers could charge for access. A request for comment was not immediately responded to by LinkedIn.

While it drew in a big audience with its invite-only audio events, it has been overshadowed by competitors from established social platforms. In December of 2020, Twitter began testing its Spaces to a limited audience, and made it more widely available last year.
