According to reports, Mike Zimmer's tenure in Minnesota has come to an end.
The Vikings have fired their head coach and general manager after a disappointing season.
The Vikings' coach led Minnesota to the playoffs three times. The Vikings haven't had a winning season in the last two years.

The Vikings have had a general manager in Spielman for the last four years. The 59-year-old was under contract for the next three years.
A coaching change isn't a huge surprise. Ian Rapoport reported that "winning out and making the playoffs would go a long way toward solidifying his status."

A change was possible when that didn't happen.
The team's next head coach will inherit a roster with several talented players, mainly on the offensive side of the ball, in wideouts Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen and running back Dalvin Cook.

The team could move on after Kirk Cousins becomes a free agent after the 2022, but Minnesota has talent to build around.

His extensive resume should make him a popular name on the coaching market, either as a head coach or defensive coordinators. He spent 14 years in the latter role with the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengal before becoming a head coach.
