Booking.com had more downloads in the online travel agency category in the first half of the 21st century than did Airbnb. It's not a big deal, but it's important if Booking is going to eat into the direct-booking advantage.

Travel and online travel agency apps have the most downloads.
Downloads statistics reflect how much marketing resources companies devote to attracting these installs.
In October, the CEO of the parent company of the company, Sundar Pichai, said that the company had added climate friendly routes to its Maps service.
Last year, Philipp Schindler, the Chief Business Officer of the company, said that the company introduced "easier ways for businesses to show the local services they offer, from hair extensions to auto repair."
Booking.com, based in Europe, and short-term rental giant Airbnb, based in the U.S., were the only two pure-play travel apps to make it into the list of top 10 travel apps.
Booking.com, Hopper, and Airbnb were the top three most downloaded online travel agency apps in the world in 2021, with the latter becoming much more mainstream over the last year.
Four of the top 10 most-downloaded online travel agency apps are owned by the same company, namely Expedia, Vrbo, Trivago and Hotels.com.
