Spotify Still Can't Say When Its Delayed 'HiFi' Streaming Service Will Launch

The company did not respond to requests for more information about the delayed Hifi service, which is currently not available on the service.

In February, it was announced that a premium tier would be introduced by the end of 2021. The feature will allow fans to experience more depth and clarity in their favorite tracks.

There was no update from the company on when the high-bandwidth audio experience would launch and there was no sign of it in 2021. Users of the service recently took to the service's community forums to ask for more information.

Hifi quality audio is important to you. We're excited to deliver a premium experience to Premium users in the future. We don't have timing details yet.

The company started testing a version of its streaming service with a small group of users almost five years ago.

The "Spotify Hi-fi" tier was promoted as a $5-$10 upgrade to a standard subscription. The wording of the update seems to suggest that it will not be offered as a paid-for upgrade when it does launch.

Adding to that, the fact that Amazon has stopped charging extra for its own lossless music library, and that it has bundled its "HD" tier into all standard Amazon Music Unlimited subscriptions, makes the idea of a similar service being asked users to pay more for a similar service seem like a non

There was a hint that the lossless plan was on the way in May after a glitch in the app.

Users of the streaming service are still in the dark about when the surface will appear, despite the fact that the unintentional tease last year came to nothing.
