Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool Covid outbreak was 'a lot of false positives'

After missing last weekend's draw at Chelsea due to a suspected positive Covid test, he returned to the bench for the game against Shrewsbury on Sunday.

There were a lot of false positives that came from the Covid outbreak that led to the postponement of the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi- final.

The Reds said they couldn't field a team because of the outbreak.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the only player to test positive.

Anyone who had a false positive result was not allowed to play in the FA Cup.

Kaide Gordon was one of four teenagers named in the starting line-up, and he scored the tying goal as the club came from behind to win.

The Reds boss said that the boys did well and that they could line up with this team.

The rules are so strict that all the players who are false positives can't play.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was the only real positive.

The first-team training centre was temporarily closed on Wednesday after assistant manager Lijnders became the latest to have to isolated.

Lijnders had taken charge of last weekend's draw at Chelsea, with the German being isolated after a suspected positive test.

The first leg will be at Anfield on Thursday and the second at the Emirates Stadium on January 20.
