Turkmenistan Plans to Close its Blazing 'Gateway to Hell'

The past few years have felt like a trial run of living through the end times. The Gateway to Hell is going to be closed by Turkmenistan in order to keep the other three horsemen of the apocalypse from following Pestilence through it.

The president said in televised remarks on Sunday that authorities will try to put out a massive fire that has burned for decades in the Karakum Desert. The crater is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country.

Berdymukhamedov called for officials to find a solution to extinguish the fire. The crater is at least 70 meters wide and at least 20 meters deep and it negatively affects both the environment and the health of the people living nearby.

He said that the loss of natural resources could be used to improve the well-being of the people.

Berdymukhamedov has tried to close the gates of hell before. The experts were unsuccessful in extinguishing the flames.
