Startling Video From Yellowstone Shows Freeloading Grizzly Steal Prey From Wolves

A video by the team at the national park shows a pack of wolves and a bear hunting together, only for the bear to make off with their prey.
The footage was posted to the National Parks Service Facebook page in December. A few wolves chase a cow elk down, and are successful in doing so.
Once the wolves have their kill, the bear rejoins them and takes their meal.
Kleptoparasitism is the act of one species stealing food from another.
The National Park Service told Insider that hunting bears and wolves together is not unusual, as the two species usually ignore each other.

The presence of wolves may benefit bears by taking carcasses that wolves have killed. If a bear wants a wolf-killed animal, the wolves will try to defend it; wolves usually fail to chase the bear away.

The majority of interactions between wolves and bears involve food, according to the Parks Service.
The wolves from the national park have had more than their food stolen.
According to an AP report, 20 wolves were killed by hunters in the last few months.
The kills are a blow to the species' long-term viability and for wolf research, according to a park spokesman.
