On the fourth play of the Dolphins' game against New England, Jaylen Waddle set an NFL rookies record for catches in a single season.
The previous record was held by Anquan Boldin, who caught 101 passes for 1,377 yards and 8 touchdown in 2003 with the Arizona Cardinals.
Tua Tagovailoa was drafted by Miami in the sixth round. His teammates said they noticed his talent as soon as he stepped on the field for his first practice, after he was voted the Dan Marino TeamMVP by local media.
"You can see the talent immediately," Durham said. He became more confident as the season went on. He's a guy who doesn't like playing with a big game. He wants more. Throughout the year, I think that has been shown. He's still asking, 'How can I improve?' on a week-to-week basis, and that's what he's done.
The fact that he received an award shows how important he has been to the team.
Waddle was tied for seventh in the NFL in reception with 99 and 24th in receiving yards with 988. He caught four passes for 25 yards and a touchdown on the opening drive for Miami.
