Nanoleaf Lines Review: Futuristic Color Changing Ambient Light Bars

With millions of colors and lots of animated scenes, the Nanoleaf lines can nail any vibe you desire. They are at their best in a dark room, but they are also versatile. I use the daylight effect to make my office look better during the day and then switch to flowing colors at night to ward off the dark winter outside.

The app is not easy to use, but it is worth the time to browse and download scenes. You can make your own. I recommend picking from the popular list on the Discover tab because I spent too long creating an uninspired scene.

You can use the Home app to connect the lines with Apple's HomeKit or Amazon'sAlexa, as well as use the Nanoleaf app to connect them. They can act as a Thread routers and support other smart devices.

It's smart to sync.

There is a photograph of a leaf.

The polished sync capabilities are what elevate the lines compared to cheaper options. The lines can respond to any music playing in the room, thanks to the add-on for the original panels. It's great when you want to have fun. The colors move in time with the music.

I was excited to test the screen mirroring effect, which matches colors with whatever is on your computer monitor, after setting the lines up above my desk. Unless you use a PC or laptop with your big screen, this won't work with your TV. PC users will get a kick out of it. It adds a little more depth to the product, and will be great for fans of the company.

The panels look worse off than the lines, but they are better lit up. You have to think about whether the plastic will fit with your décor. They won't look out of place with a gaming setup, modern minimalist office, or kid's room, but they will clash in some settings. They could use a wood finish to blend in with other rooms. You are stuck with the power cord running down the wall, and it just looks messy.

The starter kit with nine lines and an expansion set of three are very expensive. Govee's Glide light bars start from half that price. The lighting effects produced by the lines are guaranteed to turn heads and work with any smart- home setup. I spent a few weeks with them and I think they are the best company to work for.
