Carolina Panthers expected to target Jay Gruden, Bill O'Brien in offensive coordinator search, sources say

According to league sources, the Carolinas are expected to target former head coaches Jay Gruden and Bill O'Brien in their search for a new offensive coordinator.

Sources told Schefter that Kevin O'Connell is expected to be interested in the job.

Carolina is ranked 30th in the NFL in total offense and 29th in scoring. Jeff Nixon has been the interim offensive coach.

Sources previously told Jeremy Fowler that Matt Rhule will remain as the head coach of the Carolinas for the next two years.

The younger brother of Jon Gruden was the head coach of the Washington Football Team for six seasons from 2014 to 2019. He was hired by Washington after three seasons as the Cincinnati's offensive coach.

The Alabama and Georgia football teams will play in the College Football Playoff National Championship game on Monday night.

O'Brien was the head coach of the Texans for six seasons, during which time he was also a candidate for theJaguars head-coaching position.
