Lorenzo Insigne to Toronto FC: MLS side to complete stunning move for Italy forward



Lorenzo Insigne will join Toronto FC.

Toronto FC will sign Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli in the summer, the Major League Soccer club said on Saturday. Insigne will be added to the squad as a designated player, pending receipt of his international transfer certificate, after signing a four-year deal.

MLS and Toronto finished second-bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference last season with six wins from 34 matches. The forward's contract at Napoli expires at the end of the season and he will move to Canada as a free agent, with reports suggesting he could earn $12.5 million a year.

Insigne was part of the Italy team that won the Euro 2020 title, scoring 10 goals in 53 caps.

He will join O'Neill at Toronto. A free transfer was the reason why O'Neill moved to the club.
