Mark Gurman said in his "Power On" newsletter that Apple's first event will likely take place in March or April. Gurman said that a new iPhone with support for 5G and a faster chip is likely to be announced at the event.
Gurman wrote that Apple's first virtual event of the year is coming up in a few months and is likely to take place in either March or April.
Apple held an event on April 20 last year to show off its AirTag item tracker, new iPad Pro and iMac models powered by the M1 chip, and a new purple color option for the iPhone 12 and 12 mini.
The spring event was not held by Apple in 2020 due to the COVID-19 being declared a worldwide epidemic. The second-generation iPhone SE and updated MacBook Air were two of the new products Apple announced on its website in the spring.
The March or April event could see the announcement of new iMac and Mac mini models with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips.
The E3 video game conference will be an online-only event again this year, but Gurman said that he is certain that the WWDC will remain a fully virtual event.
Gurman said "chatter about it has slowed down recently," so it is unclear if the Apple Watch Series 8 will gain a body temperature sensor or not.
