Ja Morant will not play Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers due to left thigh soreness.

Morant has missed 13 contests this season.

He injured his left knee against the Hawks. Morant was expected to be out for at least two weeks, according to Memphis head coach Taylor Jenkins.

He entered the league's health and safety protocols.

Morant is one of the best young players in the NBA. He leads Memphis with 25.0 points per game, along with 6.6 assists, 5.8 rebound, 1.6 three-pointers made and 1.4 steals per contest. The team is 10-2 without him in the lineup.

The second overall pick in the NBA draft, Morant made an immediate impact for the team with 17.8 points and 7.3 assists per game.

He led Memphis to its first playoff appearance in two years after defeating the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors in the play-in tournament. The Utah Jazz won five games in the first round.

In addition to Morant, the team will be without several other players on Saturday. Guard Desmond Bane is questionable.

The biggest increase in playing time will be seen by De' Anthony Melton and Tyus Jones.
