According to Newsweek, Donald Trump spent January 6, 2022, at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, watching cable news and getting angry.
Newsweek said that Trump spent all day at home while cable news showed events about the first anniversary of the Capitol riot.
The friend told Newsweek that what he saw made him angry.
The events were dubbed the "Biden-Pelosi show" by Trump, according to a friend.
Newsweek said that another source close to Trump said that the former president's contempt for Biden was intensified by his speech.
The former president slammed Biden's speech as a piece of political theater to distract from his failures. He said that Biden tried to further divide America.
He accused Biden of trying to downplay the incompetent job he is doing. "That's what you get when you have a rigged election," the statement said.
According to Newsweek, Trump's friends say that the former president is obsessed with the election having been rigged. One friend said that he was fixated on the election because he still couldn't believe he lost.
Police and security forces clashed with Trump supporters who were trying to storm the Capitol in Washington.

Newsweek said that he's fixated on how the public views him on January 6.
Two days before the anniversary of the Capitol attack, Trump abruptly canceled a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, where he had originally planned to hold it. He blamed the January 6th Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the Fake News Media.
According to reports, family members and political allies warned him that the press conference would be a disaster. Newsweek reported that Lindsay Graham advised that there would be little upside to holding it.
