Ben Simmons is still a member of the Philadelphia 76ers even though he requested a trade during the preseason and has not been on the team for the entire season.
The Philadelphia Voice's Kyle Neubeck reported Friday that the Kings could be a trade partner for the 76ers, but that a deal for Fox would have to be a three-teamer.
The 76ers insisted on talent and fit.
The Kings are an example. Philadelphia isn't equal to Sacramento in terms of the availability of De'Aaron Fox and/or Tyrese Haliburton in the right deals. Sources say that a deal involving Fox would almost certainly have to be a three-team deal, with Fox moving to another party in order to get what the 76ers want. The sense is that he isn't at the level the 76ers want for a primary piece in return for Simmons, that he would need to be one part in a more extravagant return.
The 76ers started the season with a 16-16 record but have won five straight to move into fifth in the Eastern Conference. It has helped that All-Star center, who has missed 11 games, is being replaced.
The 76ers don't look like a contender at this point, with the Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets, and Milwaukee Bucks all sitting in the top three in the East.
Simmons is the most attractive potential trade piece. The trade that the 76ers feel is suitable for the three-time All-Star hasn't been easy to form.
The 76ers are trying to spark multi-team trade scenarios to move, according to a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Two- and three-team deal structures were on the table, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski andZach Lowe.
The trade deadline is five weeks away, and the 76ers still have time to do something.
