Let’s go Brandon? Let’s stop the nonsense

Brandon Brown is the most famous race car driver in America, an incredible thing for a 28-year-old in the second-tier NASCAR Xfinity Series who has won one race since moving up from the NASCAR truck series, where he was winless with only one top 10 finish in 22 races.

It was the only win that made Brown famous, and it would have been the same for any other driver if they had won the race. After the race, the crowd nearby started chanting, "fuck Joe Biden!" when NBC's Kelli Stavast was interviewing Brown.

Stavast said that the crowd was chanting "let's go Brandon!" The dumbest thing about the last few years was that the people who were so bold about fuck your feelings started using a different word.

Because we live in a stupid time in human history, the rise of this three-word euphemism became a criptocurrency, and last week LGBcoin became the sponsor of the No.68 car.

Maybe it was appropriate that this took place on Knob Hill Road, because these are a bunch of absolute doorknobs who made their announcement before actually getting the sponsorship approved by NASCAR. They thought they had the green flag, but NASCAR indicated that sponsorship needed approval from higher-ranking officials, as Bob Pockrass reported.

The higher-ups at NASCAR gave it the thumbs down because they wanted their sport to appeal to people outside of the MAGAverse. As Pockrass wrote, NASCAR has considered a shift in policy to restrict sponsorships that it believes are political in nature as it strives to be as least divisive as possible.

The Confederate flag has been removed from the infield trailers at NASCAR events, and the loser banner has been replaced by Trump flags. There are also Thin Blue Line flags. The coming season will be wasted of money and fabric to proclaim "Let's go Brandon". A lot of people who complain about being stuck to sports and railing against virtue signaling are actually doing it.

It is easier to ban the Confederate flag than it is to ban the descendants of the early 21st century. Without markers on the left, there is not a way to do it.

This is about appearances. The sport of left turns has a lot of righties in it, but the tracks are mostly in places that are not very popular with voters.

There is still a political backlash to doing it, even if the reason for NASCAR to shun sponsorships from a meme is that they don't want to look like assholes to the wider public. Money being left on the table is something that capitalists don't do unless it protects more of their money. The ALCS and NLCS are presented by LoanDepot, so ask Major League Baseball if sports leagues will debase themselves for the right price if it costs more.

The largest investor into LGBcoin is threatening a lawsuit, citing damages to those who invested in thecryptocurrencies, the value of which dropped. The lawsuit has less chance of success than Brown's name became a political meme. They are going to file a lawsuit? For a private entity turning down a sponsorship because they thought it would be bad for their business? They ran to the public with the yes at the first step of the ladder, before getting the approval they needed. The lawyers are getting the money from the suit.

Brown will find a sponsor that will compete with REMarkable Pillow. He will be fine, and will be cheered on by idiots for a long time. NASCAR does not stand for the National Association of Socialists, Communists, and Radicals. The only kind of political sponsorship the organization would get would be if they openly embraced this kind of nonsense.

It is easy to draw that line by making that stand over a coin.
