Pittsburgh Steelers' Diontae Johnson off reserve/COVID-19 list after just one day

On Friday, Diontae Johnson was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list, a day after he was placed there.

Johnson is a key member of the offense for the final game of the season against the Baltimore Ravens.

Under the new return-to-play protocols adopted in December, players who are vaccine-free can return to practice and games based on a measure of their viral load, known as the cycle threshold. The testing can start as soon as one day after the initial positive.

The Ravens have the worst pass defense in the league and Johnson had two touchdown catches against them.

Cornerback Joe Haden and center Kendrick Green are still on the reserve list.

Coach Mike Tomlin didn't rule out the defensive coach for the game, though he was in protocols. The defensive playcalling duties would be decided at the 11th hour.
