The U.S. Women's Open is considered the biggest event in women's golf.

The purse for the U.S. Golf Association will double this year to $10 million, making it the richest women's golf tournament in the world.

The purse was over $5 million when Yuka Saso won.

The USGA brought on a presenting sponsor to help make it possible.

The U.S. Women's Open purse is going to increase to $12 million over the next five years.

The USGA is sending women to some of the classic Open designs that have hosted the men's event. Oakmont and Pinehurst No. 2 are included on the list.

In 2029, the men's and women's Open will be held in North Carolina, just as they were in 2014, the USGA said. Martin Kaymer won the U.S. Open, and the following week, the women's open, she captured her first major.

Mike Whan, the former LPGA Tour commissioner, took over as CEO of the USGA last summer.

The USGA gives younger players something to dream about and provides an incredible stage for the athletes. Every little girl in the world has dreamed of winning the U.S. Women's Open.

The partnership with ProMedica helps make that happen. The ProMedica Impact Fund will be the official charity of the Women's Open, as well as being a marketing partner of the USGA. The fund will raise more than $1 billion over eight years for programs that improve individual and community health.

Whan said that they would push to change the game and what it means to young women around the world.

The Women's Open will be held at Pine Needles Lodge in North Carolina for two days in June, and then it will move to California the following year. It was on the schedule.

Pine Needles has a strong history of the Women's Open, with a list of winners that includes Karrie Webb and Cristie Kerr.

Riviera and Merion are historic courses that have hosted the U.S. Open.

Oakland Hills was the most notable. Gil Hanse's architecture firm was chosen to design the Olympic Golf Course in Rio for the 2016 Olympics, after the Detroit-area course underwent a major renovation.

Oakland Hills has been trying to get a U.S. Open for a long time. It hasn't hosted the men's Open since 1996, but Ben Hogan brought this course to its knees when he won the Open in 1951.

The site of the Genesis Invitation on the PGA Tour is where Hogan won in 1948. It is one of the more well-known stops on the West Coast, but was seen as not having enough room for all the infrastructure required for a men's major.

The Solheim Cup was hosted by Inverness in Toledo. Inbee Park won her first Women's Open in 2008, and the Women's Open is returning to Interlachen for the first time since. The 100th anniversary of Bobby Jones winning the U.S. Open is in 2030.

The winner of the U.S. Women's Open will be paid. The USGA wants to give the biggest payoff of $1 million to Saso.
