Ahmaud Arbery Murderers Face Sentencing

The sentencing hearing will resume in an hour after the court took a lunch break.

Wanda Cooper Jones, Ahmaud's mom, just addressed the court in an emotional victim impact statement. She said that Ahmaud was like a child who loved to run, and that she was raising the honor of her lifetime. She asked the judge to impose life sentences on the men.

The 3 men who murdered Ahmaud Arbery are about to find out if they'll be in prison for the rest of their lives.

The sentencing hearing for the McMichaels and Bryans is going to be held on Friday morning in Georgia.

All 3 men were found guilty of murder and several other charges, but only the son of Gregory was convicted of malice murder. It's likely that he'll get the stiffest sentence, since he was the one who shot Ahmaud.

Gregory McMichael and Bryan are both facing life in prison. The question is if the judge will grant them parole. If either of them gets that, they will have to serve 30 years in prison, which is a life sentence for 2 older men.

It will be interesting to see if any of the convicted men make a statement in court.

All 3 are scheduled to stand trial in federal court next month for hate crimes.
