Daxton Hill will be entering the NFL draft.
"It has been a long, unforgettable journey that I have had these past three years which has shaped who I am," Hill wrote in his announcement. I have decided to enter the 2022.
Hill was a first-team All-Big Ten selection after totaling 69 tackles as a junior, including 4.5 for loss, and two picks.
David Ojabo, Aidan Hutchinson, Christopher Hinton, Daylen Baldwin, and running back Hassan Haskins have all declared for the upcoming draft.
The loss of Hill will be a blow to the Michigan football program, as he helped the team win a Big Ten title and make an appearance in the College Football Playoff. He was part of the defense that allowed 17.4 points per game.
The 5-star safety was the top safety in the recruiting class and the 14th overall. He lived up to expectations despite only three years on the campus.
He looks to be one of the top safeties off the board, so he will try to impress the scouts.
Hill was listed as the ninth-best safety in the class by Bleacher Report, but he was also considered the best slot corner available.
The Michigan player could be a sleeper in the class according to Mel Kiper Jr.
"He's exactly what an NFL defensive back is supposed to be: a deep safety, cover wide receivers from the slot, and make plays in the run game," wrote the sportscaster.
He could be an impact player early in his career.
