It was during the recent Planet-Sized X-Men that the Mutants decided to terraform Mars and transport the sentient island of Arakko as a sort of second home. The colony needs a firm leader if it is not the red planet. The new series, X-men: Red, will explore the different ideas that the Mutants have on who should be.
It seems like Storm and the former commander of SWORD, Abigail Brand, have different opinions on things. The X-Men: Red series is the final chapter of the X-Men's Krakoan Age, which changed the world with House and Powers of X in 2019. The synopsis and details on the first two issues of the series are here.
X-men: Red will see a divided group of people. Major players like Storm, Sunspot, and the Mutants of the Great Ring have different hopes and fears for Arakko. Arakko is a place of mystery, strength, and endless conflict, and it needs more than just a team of heroes to defend it. Who will rise to the challenge?
The X-men are learning to live in peace on what was once called Mars. The red planet needs more than a queen. Along with an unstable Vulcan on her side, and Cable keeping his own secrets, there are other plans by Abigail Brand. Someone has to fight for a new world.
The X-men are keeping up their violent ways, and they call them Arakko. The red planet needs a ruler. Storm has other ideas, along with a broken Magneto and Sunspot. Someone has to claim it.
The comic will be written by Al Ewing and illustrated by Russell Dauterman, who designed Storm's equally fabulous new costume. The first and second X-men: Red will be released on April 6 and April 27.
