The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that Gamestop plans to create a marketplace for NFTs.

According to a report, Gamestop plans to create games and items with cryptocurrencies.

Gamestop, which has been at the center of a retail trader frenzy, will expand into one of the most hyped sectors in technology according to a report. OpenSea was valued at $13.3 billion by investors.

NFTs are a type of technology that allows proof of ownership of digital goods to be stored on a blockchain. The price of NFT has risen in recent months due to enthusiasm from the holders of cryptocurrencies.

According to the report, Gamestop will focus on virtual video game goods such as character outfits and weapons.

A request for comment was not returned by Gamestop. Gamestop stock is down by more than half from its peak.
