E3 will be online-only again this year

For the third year in a row, the COVID-19 Pandemic has affected E3. The event will once again be online only.

The Entertainment Software Association told GamesBeat that E3 will not be held in person in 2022, due to the health risks surrounding COVID-19. We are excited about the future of E3 and will be announcing more details soon.

The 2020 edition of E3 was canceled by the ESA. A virtual version of the event was held last year.

The entire event was moved online for the second year in a row, as the plans for a hybrid format were scuttled. This month'sGrammy Awards have been postponed indefinitely. The CSA decided to end the show one day early because of the in-person component in Las Vegas.
