Stingley will enter the NFL draft in 2022, he announced in an article for The Players' Tribune.

Stingley wrote that he knows he's ready to lock in and focus on what's next as he prepares for the jump to the next level.

I would like to thank LSU and the fans for the support they have given me throughout my time there, and how much I appreciate the moments we have shared together. They will always be remembered. Thank you to my family that has been with me every step of the way. I hope I can make you proud.

Since his freshman season, Stingley has been projected as a top NFL draft pick, with six picks, 15 passes defended and 38 tackles. Over the last two seasons, the 20-year-old has been limited by injuries.

Stingley played in seven games in 2020 and finished with 19 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, and one forced fumble. He played in three games in 2021, but had a foot procedure in October and is out indefinitely.
Stingley could be a top pick in the upcoming draft, despite his injury history, according to Todd McShay.

We haven't seen much of him, so I don't know if there is a consensus. There are three games this year. He has not played much in the last two years. You study that tape again in 2019. He has everything you look for in a defensive back. He has oily hips and is too loose in terms of his ability to turn and run. He has top-end speed, arm length, and ball production, which is what you look for in a player. Is he going to be healthy? You have to study the medical if you want to be an NFL team. I think workouts are critical for him, not just combine and Pro Day workouts, but individual workouts for teams just trying to get a feel for where he is and has his game slipped any, or post-injury, is he gonna get back to the player he was in 2019? I think he has a chance to be a top-5 pick. From a talent standpoint, he is that special.

Stingley was listed second in McShay's draft rankings in October after he was ruled out.
