Tennessee Republican tries to depants a ref at HS game, gets booted

Jeremy Faison, the third highest ranked Republican in the state's House of Representatives, had to apologize for embarrassing himself and his party after he was kicked out of a high school basketball game. An elected official tried to pull a referee's pants down in public in an era in which everything is recorded on cell phones.

You acted like an idiot when you had to include Jesus in your apology.

He thought how wrong it was when a parent lost their temper at a sporting event. It's not Christian and it's not mature and it's embarrassing to the child. I acted the fool and lost my temper on the ref. I wanted him to fight me.

. I lost my temper tonight and it was stupid of me. Rational thoughts are never good when emotions get in the way. I would like to find the ref and ask for his forgiveness. I was wrong.

If a story about sports and Republicans in Tennessee makes them look dumber, it is because it happened last winter. The Tennessee Republicans sent a letter to all the presidents and chancellors of public universities in the state asking them to stop players from kneeling.

All 27 members of the Senate Republican Caucus signed a letter urging each of them to adopt policies within their respective athletic departments to prohibit any actions moving forward.

The East Tennessee State men's basketball team kneeled during the anthem. The team's white head coach was fired because he supported his players. He was replaced by a black coach.

We have not heard anything else about them kneeling.
