If you were waiting for the price to reach a threshhold, you might finally be able to get the AirPods Max. The over- ear headphones in pink are available for just $400 to Amazon Prime members, or a steep $149 below their official sticker. That's the lowest price we've seen yet, and the $460 for gray is a solid deal. The return policy of Amazon is different from that of Woot.

The AirPods Max are a better value than the other ones. They have a superb balanced sound, a quality active noise cancellation and clever controls. You'll get perks in the Apple system, like simple pairing and spatial audio. You'll be happy if you have solid battery life.
The caveat is familiar. If you use Windows, some of the advantages disappear, and you may be better off with Sony's WH-1000XM4. If you routinely stuff the AirPods Max into your bag, you'll really want to buy a third-party shell. You will have few reasons to complain if those aren't obstacles.
