‘You can’t love your country only when you win’: Biden urges Americans to defend the right to vote, condemns Trump election lies on Jan. 6 anniversary

The first anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump is on January 6, 2021.

The president warned that the threats to democracy that were seen during the Capitol riot did not end when the violence stopped.

Biden blamed Trump for fomenting the attackers who were attempting to overturn the 2020 election in a fiery speech on Thursday.

When you win, you can't love your country only. Obeying the law is not convenient. Biden said in an address from the Capitol that you can't be patriotic when you allow lies.

Biden said that the lies that drove the anger and madness have not beenbated. We have to be firm and steadfast in our defense of the right to vote.

On the anniversary of the Capitol riot, Biden gave a speech in National Statuary Hall, which was followed by a day of events organized by Democrats. The mob halted the transfer of power because of Trump's lies.

The Department of Justice launched an unprecedented criminal investigation after the invasion. Democrats are pushing for new legislation to strengthen voting rights in the wake of the riot and Republican efforts to subvert elections at the state level.

The former president accused Biden of using his name to distract from his own political challenges. The 2020 presidential election was won by 6 million voters, and Trump repeated his false claim that he won.

Biden pointed out that Trump was a former president and that he refused to concede the race.
