Biden is expected to highlight Trump's 'singular responsibility' for the Capitol attack in his January 6 address, White House says

The White House said that President Joe Biden would blame the chaos and carnage of the Capitol attack on his predecessor, Donald Trump.

The White House Press Secretary said that she expected President Biden to lay out the significance of what happened at the Capitol and the singular responsibility President Trump has for the chaos and carnage that we saw.

He will push back on the lie spread by the former President in order to distract from his role in what happened, as well as to deceive the American people and his own supporters," Psaki said.

When asked if Biden would single out Trump by name, Psaki said people would know who he was referring to.

Five people were killed in the Capitol insurrection on January 6, 2021.

The exact role that Trump and his allies played in the siege has been determined by a bipartisan House committee. The former president told his supporters to march peacefully on the Capitol, but also told them that if they didn't fight like hell, they wouldn't have a country anymore.

Biden has been clear-eyed about the threat the former President poses to our democracy and how he works to undermine basic American values and rule of law.

She said that the president has said that he "abused his office, undermined the Constitution, and ignored his oath to the American people in an effort to amass more power for himself and his allies."

The January 6 House committee has been trashed by Trump many times as the "Unselect Committee."

The former president blamed the cancellation on the "total bias and dishonesty of the January 6th Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the Fake News Media." He was going to give his public remarks on January 15 at a rally in Arizona.
