After a challenging week on and off the pitch, it is difficult to imagine Thomas Tuchel emerging from the past week with more credit than this.
Their 2-0 win over Spurs in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals was a good result, but they missed out on the chance to win the game due to their poor finishing. It was ironic that Romelu Lukaku's return to the fold was ended in the way that it was done, but it was also a tactical lesson from Tuchel to follow the lesson he learned in the days prior.
The home dugout at the bridge can be dangerous. He won the title in his first year in charge but was sacked a year later due to disagreements over transfer strategy and his handling of Diego Costa.
