UFC president Dana White said on Wednesday that the two long-standing championship rivalries will be decided at UFC 272 in March.

Alexander Volkanovski will face Max Holloway in a trilogy bout, while Aljamain Sterling will face off against the interim champ.

The fights should be finalized soon, according to sources. The event is expected to take place in Las Vegas.

Volkanovski is a two-time defending champion from Australia. He won the belt after narrowly defeating Holloway in their first meeting. In his first title defense in July 2020, he beat the former champ by a close unanimous decision.

The Volkanovski fought once. He defended his title against Brian Ortega in a five-round bout that was the Fight of the Year.

A big year as a non-champ is what Holloway is coming off. He dominated Calvin Kattar in January of 2021, and he ended the year with a five-round decision over Yair Rodriguez.

He will be seeking his first title defense. He won the belt after his opponent was disqualified in the fourth round for throwing an illegal knee. The two were supposed to fight in October, but Sterling was forced out with a neck injury.

The interim title was won byYan in October, via unanimous decision. He's the top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
