Walmart Reportedly Cuts In Half Paid Leave For Employees Who Contract Covid

According to multiple reports Wednesday, Walmart is shortening paid leave for employees who test positive for Covid-19 or need to be in a hospital for at least a week, following new guidance from U.S. health officials.

Walmart reduced paid leave for US hourly workers and long-haul truck drivers on Tuesday, according to a memo sent by the company.
Workers who test positive for Covid-19 will be given a week of paid leave through the end of March, according to CNBC.

Walmart initially offered up to two weeks of paid leave to eligible workers, according to a press release last month.
Walmart has extended remote work for office workers until the end of the month, a company spokesman said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shortened the recommended isolation period for those who test positive for Covid-19 from 10 to 5 days. The New York Times reported that Delta Air Lines reduced paid leave for workers who contract with Covid-19 from 10 days to five.
