There's an issue with Apple's Calendar app that causes holidays to not show up for users in a number of countries.
MacRumors readers have let us know that this issue is much more widespread than we previously thought. The calendar app doesn't show holidays for Australia, the UK, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, and other countries.
Some assumed that the holidays would come around in January 2022, but they have not.
This is not a worldwide issue because holidays are showing up in the United States in a way that is appropriate. One user said that a device with an older operating system is showing the holidays as expected, but it's not clear which versions of the operating system are affected.
The large number of users that have been impacted by the Calendar problem is likely a bug that Apple will address in a future update.
The government in the UK has provided a list of public holidays in a format compatible with the iPhone, and similar solutions may be available in other countries for those who don't want to wait for an Apple fix.
Some users in affected countries have noticed that their public holidays are returning to the Calendar app, so Apple is likely to fix it at this time.
