Record Number Of Children Hospitalized With Covid-19 In U.S.

The average number of children admitted to hospitals with Covid-19 in the United States in the week ending Sunday was a new record, up 114% from the previous week, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Texas led the nation in the number of hospitalizations for children as of Sunday, but in recent weeks hospitalizations have doubled in New York and almost tripled in Washington, D.C.

The number of children being treated by doctors in several states is record high.

The number of children hospitalized due to Covid-19 cases increased by more than 300,000 in the week ending December 30th, the largest number since the Pandemic began.

The number of patients hospitalized with Covid-19 in the US has increased from 71,000 last week to 112,941 on Tuesday. Omicron may not be as severe as other versions. The sheer number of cases in the U.S. could still overwhelm hospital systems, so experts warn of dismissing omicron as mild.
