Mike Tomlin is proof that NFL owners’ unwillingness to hire more Black coaches is a stupid and willful decision

He has been in the league for close to two decades and has been to two Super Bowls and is the youngest coach in the history of the game.

Consistency is something that sets him apart from his peers. Despite free agency, rising salary caps, and playing in a league that is designed to create parity, the Steelers have never been a bad football team. For the 15th year in a row, Mike Tomlin will end the season with at least a.500 record, something no other coach in NFL history has done.

When asked about the meaning of reaching the mark, the coach said that he was not sitting here today. We want to get into a single-elimination tournament this year and try to win the world championship. Our mentality is that every year.

It is just certain hardware that you expect to pick up along the way. You would be disappointed if you didn't. That is an expectation that we have in Pittsburgh.

A win over the Ravens on Sunday is one of the things the Steelers need to make the playoffs, along with a victory over the Colts, and a tie between the Raiders and Bolts. If Jacksonville is the location, it will likely keep him from his 10th postseason appearance in 15 years. When he was asked about the USC job last fall, he was disrespected. Only black people are expected to be excited about potential jobs that will turn out to be a demotion.

Do you know if anyone is asking Sean Payton about that? Tomlin asked if anyone was asking Andy Reid about that.

The reason he mentioned the white Super Bowl-winning coaches was because he was better than them and they didn't have to deal with questions about college jobs that are beneath them like he does. The winning percentage of.................... The winning pct. is.......................... In case you were wondering, the two men have four losing seasons on their resume. What about Tomlin? None. Unlike other coaches in the league, Tomlin doesn't get as much attention from the media. He won't be in a lot of national commercials as a pitch man.

Terry Bradshaw, a former Steeler, once said that Tomlin was not his kind of coach and referred to him as a cheerleader.

In 2020, the defensive tackle said that he thinks he is a great head coach. It is one thing to be the all-time winningest Black head coach, but this dude deserves more than that. To get the most out of his players. First-rounders are not the only ones that played great here. He has had fifth, sixth, and sixth guys who have done well.

I think a lot of people like to say he inherited a great team, but think about other people who have done the same. Phil Jackson would take over a basketball team. That is not a shot at him, but when you are able to lead a group of men and lead them in the right way, that says a lot about the type of coach you are.

Mel Tucker was the highest-paid Black coach in American sports when Michigan State signed him to a 10-year, $95 million deal in November. It is laughable that anyone other than Bill Belichick makes more than him annually, as Pete Carroll makes $11 million and Sean Payton makes $9 million.

Pete Carroll has four losing seasons in his career. It is time for Pittsburgh to start paying Mike Tomlin the same amount of money as he is a white man.
