The company that publishes Call of Duty and other games has filed a lawsuit against a company that sells software that allows people to cheat in games.

The lawsuit seeks to stop an organization that is distributing and selling for profit malicious software products designed to enable members of the public to gain unfair competitive advantages in the COD Games. The ongoing activities damage the games, the business, and the experience of the COD player community.

According to the lawsuit, the cheating software allows players to manipulate the COD Games to their own advantage, such as by automatically aiming weapons, revealing the locations of opponents, and allowing the player to see information that is not normally available to players because it would give them an unfair advantage within the game The company believes that the defendants have been aware of their rights being violated but have continued their activities.

The company is naming 50 people in the lawsuit, but it acknowledges that the true identities of the people are unknown to them.

Call of Duty: Warzone is the most popular game in the series and has been the focus of a lot of attention recently. In December, the company rolled out its new Ricochet anti-cheat system in Warzone, and soon after it said it had banned 48,000 accounts. Hundreds of thousands of accounts using cheating software in the COD Games have been banned by the company in the past year. That seems to be referring to 2021.

The account that appears to belong to EngineOwning did not reply to a request for comment. The website is live as of this writing, but it has not posted about the lawsuit on that account.

The state of California is accusing the company of fostering a culture of "constant sexual harassment" and gender-based discrimination. Some workers at the company have entered their third week of strike to protest the layoffs of employees at the company.
