Verizon Announces Plans to Expand 5G Ultra Wideband to 1,700 Cities in January, Offers Improved 5G Plans

In order to offer 5G Ultra Wideband to more than 100 million people in the United States, the company is going to expand its 4G network.

It's worth noting that the technology is limited to select areas, but nearly one in three Americans will be living in areas with faster 5G speeds.

Apple's 5G iPhone 12 and 13 models are able to take advantage of the 5G Ultra Wideband technology, but an appropriate plan is required. Not all of the plan offerings have 5G speeds.

Ahead of 5G Ultra Wideband expansion, the unlimited phone plans are being updated. The 5G Get More, 5G Play More, and 5G Do More plans will offer speeds up to 10x faster, and the highest-tier plan, the 5G Get More plan, now features unlimited premium data. Previously it was capped at 50GB per month. The fastest 5G connection speeds will not be included in lower tier plans.

AT&T and Verizon have agreed to delay the launch of the C-band spectrum that will allow the faster speeds of 5G. The FAA asked the cellular carriers to hold off until January 19 after asking them to delay deployment until January 5.

The new agreement will give the FAA and FCC more time to prepare for the deployment of the C-band spectrum as it will ensure there will be few disruptions to air operations. The deployment of the C-band was pushed back a month, but AT&T and Verizon agreed to a further delay of two weeks. The new 5G wireless networks will be deployed by AT&T and Verizon later this month.
