House probe of Jan. 6 Capitol riot seeks cooperation from Fox host and Trump ally Sean Hannity

Sean Hannity is a Fox News Host.

The House select committee is looking for information and cooperation from Sean Hannity, a close ally of former President Donald Trump.

The bipartisan select panel investigation is turning toward Fox News host Sean Hannity, according to Rep. Adam Schiff.

"I think you'll see an announcement about that very soon," he said, adding that it was "my understanding" that the committee was seeking Hannity's voluntary cooperation.

The committee wants to cooperate with Hannity.

A spokesman for the select committee did not respond to CNBC's request for comment.

Jay Sekulow told CNBC in an email that they had not heard anything from the House committee.

Sekulow told the website that any such request would raise serious constitutional issues.

The vice chair of the select committee revealed last month that the White House chief of staff had been texting MarkMeadows as the invasion was about to start.

Can he make a statement? Cheney said to ask people to leave the Capitol.

CNBC was asked for comment on the committee's interest in Hannity, but was directed to Sekulow's comments.

Two days before the first anniversary of the Capitol attack, the latest development in the probe came.

The rioters were spurred by Trump's lies that the election had been rigged against him and forced the lawmakers to flee their chambers for safety.

"We believe that he was texting with the chief of staff, and that he has information that would be relevant to our committee," he said.

He was more than a Fox Host. He was an adviser to the former president, and I hope that he will cooperate with the committee.

The committee tasked with investigating the facts and causes of the Jan. 6 invasion has issued subpoenas to dozens of Trump's current and former associates.
