The right-wing social media platform Gettr is lauding what it says is a "disruption in the social media landscape" following the permanent ban of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from the social media platform.

The most prominent new user is Joe Rogan, who created an account just in case he gets even dumber.
According to a news release, more than 500,000 new users have signed up since Rogan joined on Sunday, which is the biggest spike since the website launched.
A 24 hour suspension from Facebook was also imposed on him for spreading Covid misinformation, after he was permanently banned from the social network.
"When Joe Rogan says that the establishment social media giants might get even dumber, people listen and join the migration," said Gettr founder and CEO Jason Miller, who served as chief spokesman for former President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and was a senior advisor for his 2020 reelection bid.
The key background.
The Gettr was conceived after Trump's suspension from all major social media platforms. Several right-wing social media websites gained traction following the ban of Trump's social media accounts and the cracking down on false information about the 2020 presidential election. Parler struggled to stay online and Gab dealt with a number of hacks and glitches as sites like Parler and Gab quickly grew as alternatives to the micro-messaging service. Miller said that the privately held company is backed by a group of international investors, including a foundation led by a Chinese tycoon who is a member of Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.
Almost 4 million. That's how many users Gettr claims to have, which is only a small fraction of the 330 million active users of the micro-messaging service.
Surprising fact.
Donald Trump doesn't have a Gettr account, but he defended Marjorie Taylor Greene and called for people to stop using social media.
What to watch for.
During the first quarter of this year, Trump plans to launch his own social media platform. The demo version of the website appears to be very similar to a Twitter feed, and could potentially put it in direct competition with Gettr. Miller said he tried to broker a deal with Trump before TRUTH Social was announced.
Joe Rogan says he has covided and taken a medication.
Marjorie Taylor Greene has been banned from the social networking site for 19 years.
