Brighton: Former Seagulls midfielder Davy Propper retires from football

PSV's Davy Propper played over 100 league games before rejoining the club in the summer.

At the age of 30, former Seagulls player Davy Propper retired from football because he didn't feel comfortable in the world of football.

After four years at the Amex Stadium, Propper left the Seagulls last summer to join PSV Eindhoven.

He cited the coronaviruses and actic football schedule as reasons for his decision.

He said he lost his love for the game when he was abroad.

Propper, whose PSV contract has been terminated by mutual consent with 18 months left, said that it was difficult for him to observe the discipline needed to perform at his best.

The lack of visits from relatives and friends hasn't done me any good.

I'm grateful the club made me feel welcome. I didn't feel comfortable in the world of football and I wanted to rediscover the joy in playing football. I don't want to be a part of it anymore.

I decided to end my playing career before Christmas and it feels great. I know I made the right decision.
