Nathan Patterson: Everton complete signing of Scotland right-back from Rangers

Last updated less than a minute ago.

The Scotland right-back signed for the Goodison Park club on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

The Rangers paid a club record fee for the 20-year-old to move to Goodison Park.

Following the arrival of Vitalii Mykolenko, the second signing of the January transfer window was that of Patterson.

It was an easy choice to sign. He said that the club has a huge history and a great fan base.

"Obviously we aren't in the place we want to be right now but we can definitely get there with the talent in the changing room and staff here, and I have full belief we can do that."

A run of one win in their past 12 league games has catapulted them up to 15th in the league and eight points above the bottom three.

In the summer window, the under-pressure manager moved for Patterson.

It was great for me to know that the manager really wanted me here. "When a club really wants you, it makes your mind up early on."

I wanted to come here from the beginning. I want to win some trophies to make the fans proud.

He had been at the Glasgow club since the age of eight and had made six appearances for Rangers this season.

He made his senior debut in January 2020 as Rangers won the title with an flawless record, and has six international caps since making his senior Scotland debut in June last year.
