CES 2022: Schlage Introduces Encode Plus Deadbolt With Support for Apple's Home Key Feature

HomeKit door locks will be compatible with the Wallet app on the Apple Watch, thanks to support for home keys. Users can use the system to quickly access their home by simply bringing their device close to the lock.

The Schlage Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt is the first smart lock in North America to support Apple's home key system.

The Encode Plus is a HomeKit deadbolt that works over the internet without a hub to integrate with the Home app. You can add a home key to the lock in the Wallet app during the HomeKit setup process.

If your phone runs out of battery, Apple's home key system will still work for up to five hours, even if you don't have an Apple Watch or a home key.

There are multiple options for unlocking your door, because it is a traditional keypad deadbolt with physical key backup. Up to 100 access codes can be created to give to users who may need access to your home, and the codes can be scheduled to be valid only at certain times or revoked if no longer needed.

HomeKit and Apple home key support are included in the Encode Plus.

The Encode Plus will be available for $299.99. It will be available in two versions, a more traditional Camelot style and a more modern Century style, with both styles available in several color options.
