Baker Mayfield will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his non-throwing left shoulder, which he has played through since Week 2.
With the Cleveland Browns already eliminated from playoff contention, quarterback Baker Mayfield didn't rule out sitting for the team's final game on Sunday against the visiting Cincinnati Bengals, but he said he would be conferring with his agent and family before making that decision.
"I'm very competitive and I'm not happy with the outcome of the game," said the Cleveland quarterback. "Now it's time for me to look at what's best for me and my health."
In a rough outing, he was sacked nine times by the Steelers. At one point in the first half, Mayfield failed to complete a pass on 10 consecutive throws, the longest incompletion streak since 2019.
